home network question

OK, I took a little break and I HAD to get back to this. I installed, assigned IP adresses the correct way, shared files and printers activated and all that.
Now on my host PC it shows both PCs in network. But on my old PC it does not.
MY old PC only has ONE LAN adapter, but two LAN connections show up, one which is a WAN network driver. Do I need to configure and activate that? OR does it play a role at all in the home network?

Could this also be a Firewall issue?

Yes it could be a firewall issue.

Most importantly is the internet working on the client computer?

Internet is working on host (this PC), and I went into the Zone Alarm firewall and configured it to open for the IP of the other PC, I did that for both PCs.

I have no clue what's going wrong here, I tried everything. Been at it for the past 6 hours, no results...

shut down zone alarm on both computers to confirm that it is the issue.

can you ping each computer via their ip address.

how are your ips setup.

Example
Host
wireless 192.168.0.102
wired with ICS turned on 192.168.0.10
client 192.168.0.11

These are just examples show me what you got.

Are these ip addresses set statically or are you getting them via DHCP?

To find all information on each computer you can open a command prompt and type.
ipconfig /all

Man, I can't believe this.
Upon turning off both firewalls, the ping test worked.
I assigned the following IP adresses : PC1 (host): 192.168.0.1 subnet 255.255.255.0
PC2 (client, old PC) 192.168.0.2 same subnet.

But I added the other PCs IP to the Firewall, so shouldn't that work then?
I added the respective other PCs IP adress to the secured zone in Zone ALarm, isn't that correct?

You just need to add the ip addresses of the computers into the trusted zone in zone alarm if memory serves me correctly.

Now I set the security level for the trusted zone of Zone Alarm from high to medium, and it's working.
I still need to figure out how to make it work evne with the security settign set to high.

But at least, it does work. Now I need to find out how to access the internet from my client PC via the host PC.
Where do I configure that?
The host PCs internet access has shared access already activated.

ok you already set that up nice.

You gave me ip addresses before but the host computer should have two ip addresses.

One from the wireless and one on the wired connection.

what are these two different ip addresses?
