Ok...

Have you installed any software for it?
Have you installed any "Drivers" for it?
What PSU (power supply) do you have? <--- may seem irrelevant, but that modem doesn't use a A/C adapter b/c it uses the power from your machine.

i really apprechiate your help but could you kindly tell me what i need to use ethernet instead, and i will tr fix the ports at l8a date, thanks soooooo much tho

From what I have researched on the modem itself, it doesn't look like an Ethernet available Modem...

Here are the specs for the modem.
Does the back of the modem have an ethernet port?
It doesn't say it is e-capable...

yes i no, i would lie to purchase the equipment i need what do i need, also i want to have two connections in my house, thanks

Are you a DSL subsciber? Or are you trying to use a cable connection?

You are going to need a router or switch to share connections easily. However we need to get your internet working before we can even think of routing.

Are you using a phone line? or a cable coax?

If you are using DSL lines, you need a modem with an Ethernet Interface instead of a USB interface..
There are quite a few available on the market.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zoom X6 5590 DSL Modem (55900000) 79$ - 95$
DSL Modem, External Enclosure, Ethernet Interface, 24 Mbps
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zoom 5510B DSL Modem (55100000B) 36$
DSL Modem, External Enclosure, USB Interface, 8 Mbps
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zoom 5615 DSL Modem (56150200) 46$ - 55$
DSL Modem, External Enclosure, Ethernet Interface, 24 Mbps

phone line i think, as i dnt no what coax is, i am using a regualar bb provider, not one of those with tv packages
but i want to connect using the ethernet socket as it is the only way to get connect
thanks

Basically thats everything... If you have a newer computer you should have an onboard NIC card, but if you don't, you may want to pick one of those up as well.

sorry what will that do? also if i buy that stuff, do you think i should pay a little more to go wireless?
sam.
