The only thing I could think of right now is, is your box on an internal ip? 192.168/172/10 something like that? when you say it doesn't work is it a blank page? or can they not hit the webserver at all? thats the best I can do, but keep in mind I've been up for like 14 hours on 2 hours of sleep. ahh, the live of a nerd. 
what do you mean my box? What im trying to do is a run a invision forums from my hard drive, I see people doing it all the time and I dont knwo what im doing wrong. When they try to go to http://myip it doesnt work as it says page cannot be displayed. I dont think its working at all to tell you the truth

open up port 80 on your router (unblock it)
im not using a router, im connected directly through a cable modem, how would i do that on my computer.
Do you genetelmen and ladies understand what im trying to do? Im trying to hook up my personal computer so other people can use my hard drive to access my forums to which i have located in htdocs. I was also wondering how i set permissions to each folder as if it was a server thru my website.

Although, eventually, you should look into getting a router just for the hell of it. Prices have dropped sharply on them recently.

ok here is the problem....if i change the username to http://67.83.151.241:8888/ and the listen port to 8888 its good to go for people trying to connect, but then i cannot access localhost, if i get rid of the listed port and change it to localhost it works fine...i notice that 80 is blocked , what can i do
