Hi

I need some help on how to setup my router. The router doesnt have an inbuilt modem, so I bought an ethernet one. I first setup the modem with the correct login details etc. Now onto the networking tab, I assigned the modem with the address 192.168.0.1 and enable DCHP so my router could connect to it on 192.168.0.2 (with subnet mask 255.255.255.0)

Now onto the router.

I setup the LAN to be on 192.168.1.1 (255.255.255.0) and also DHCP enabled so the computers could connect using 192.168.1.2 and so on. The WAN is working fine, but neither the LAN or the WLAN is working... What am I doing wrong?

Is their a feature called bridge mode in your modem? This is what I recomend using. With this, you modem no longer gets an IP address and no longers handles routing. Your modem is more than a modem as it's also doing routing.

Hi

No my modem doesnt have that feature.

Its a linksys one. Under the Networking tab it has:

Local IP
Subnet Mask

Local DHCP
Start Address
Num Of Addresses
IP Range
Client Lease Time

I have DHCP on and the number of addresses to 1 starting on 192.168.0.2 (Is this ok??)

Owwww

Ok, no worries, I went it alone and sorted it out eventually.

I found out that it was something to do with the IP of the router itself. Weirdness
