HELP Please: File sharing configuration

I renamed both to WORKGROUP and turned off the firewalls but i still cant see both machines.

I dont know why but all shared folders on My Network Places are listed twice with the same name

Can you ping the other machine yet ?

You have the Windows Firewalls off right ?

Do both machines have shared folders ?

Do you have simple file sharing enabled ?

Do you have the guest account enabled ?

Both Have shared folder : yes

How can i check if the guest account is enabled?
Btw, On the Network Setup Wizard I configured both PC as :

"This computer connects to the internet through a residential gateway or through another computer on my network"

is it correct?

no that would be for ICS ( internet connection sharing )


The guest account can be found by managing the machine then clicking Local Users and Groups / Users.

you should probably redo the wizard.
I have never done a wizard for connection setups, so I am not sure what you will have to put down.

I did it!

On both pc :

Default Gateway : IP Address of the router LAN
IP Address : the one assigned by the router to the pc
SUBNET Mask : SUBNET of the router LAN

Prefered DNS Server : Router WAN DNS
