help with firewall

Yesterday, my dsl was activated and i am having some problems. I cannot connect any type of server. I was thinking it was a firewall or sumthin but i turned off ALL firewalls and it still doesnt work

examples:

When i click on limewire, everything loads fine but it wont connect to anything

when i go to any type of chat, it wont connect to the server HELP

Are you connected through a router or directly from the modem?

Do you have any av apps going? Any norton or anything like that?

Are you able to pull up any webpages?

Have you loaded the client onto your PC that connects you to your DSL service? It isn't a matter of 'plug + play', you have to set up a client on your PC to connect to the internet using your account name & password. (NOTE: you DONT have to do this when using a router, because the router connects using the same info).

EDIT: ALSO, are you getting an IP address??
START > RUN > 'CMD' > 'IPCONFIG'

oh yeah i can pull up all pages and download but i cant do what i posted earlier

ok, so the windows firewall, norton, mcafee, nothing like that? no zone alarm running???

Have you tried rebooting your PC?

EDIT: Are you sure you are running the MOST CURRENT VERSION of the software?
Have you tried un-installing it, and re-installing it??

Ok, so you just can't connect to P2P networks.... right?
