Ive set up an ftp server using win 2003 server......
Im on comcast....and im getting an error accessing my ftp....
Its OK on the internal network....
but it gets an error if i try to access it on my external network.....

I am behind a router and i did setup port forwarding 21 to 21....
ive also tried something other like 5000 to 21....ext to internal.....

Can anyone help me.....
I have a linsys router.....

Also, when i change it to another port and forward it....i still get an error if i try to do it over the net......

if i do ftp://192.168.1.102:5323/
then i can easily get into my ftp from my home network....

but when i do the same thing from the outside.....
like type it in from another comp on my network.....

I get the following error....

An error occurred opening that folder on the FTP Server. Make sure you have permisson to access that folder.
Details:
200 Type set to A
227 Entering Passive mode (192,168,1,102,14,105).
426 Connection Closed; transfer aborted.

My ftp server should be set up correctly......

Yeh if you have Windows Server 2003 Active Directory try putting DOMAINNAME\Username in as your FTP Username :) this sometimes causes problems

Comcast? I thought they don't allow servers. Anyways, in the browser try putting ftp://ipaddress:21

Make sure you open and forward port 20 also. Disable any firewall. You can try to disable passive mode in IE. It's on the advanced tab in the option.

Are you positive comcast doesnt block the ports? Cable companies love doing that.
