I just installed a new Linksys router and wireless card to connect my two Pc's. The router is connected to my XP computer with a cable modem input into the router. My other PC is a Windows ME machine (I know, everyone says switch to XP but I am not ready to do that yet if at all possible).
Sharing the Internet connection and printer sharing works fine.
However, I have shared the C drives from both PC's in attempt to allow me to copy all the software from the old PC to the new one. The file sharing seems to work, only for a little while.
If I try to copy several files, it works for about 20-30% of the files and then the connection is lost. I have no connection problems just using Internet or Printer, but when I try to copy files, it bombs out.
I have tried different wireless channels, but does not seem to help.
Any thoughts?
XP machine is a new Gateway, 3.2 GHz Pentium 4
ME machine is a Gateway 1.4 GHz.
Router is a Linksys WRT54G
Wireless card in ME machine is WMP54G.
