Hiya folks

I am TRYING to transfer 20 gbs of data from my Vista RC2 (yes I have it working, schweet) via bluetooth to my laptop...currently estimated 400 minutes. But not sure how reliable that is.

Bluetooth doesn't give you a transfer rate gauge/meter right? Anybody have a good guess how long this will actually take?

Hello,

I'm assuming that the data is 20 Gigabytes.

The newest apoproved Bluetooth specification is 2.0, which with Enhanced Data Rate, supports theoretical speeds of up to 3Mbps.

By my calculations, at 3 Mbps it will take a little over 15 hours to transfer 20GB. But this is with Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR. Realistically, bluetooth doesn't reach the theoretical speed anyway, so in reality it will take longer than 15 hours to complete the transfer. Say in reality the speed is 2 Mbps, it would take about a whole day to transfer 20GB of data.

If you are able, it would probably be best to hard-wire the PC's together and transfer the files over Ethernet.
