then go to start, run, type in msconfig and press enter. Then go to the startup click disable all, apply, ok reboot. This will disable all startup items. Make sure the PCTools firewall is off also. Then try to download something

ok i went on hijackthis, scanned, checked the box what u said and fix checked it (deleted it) i then went to start, run, msconfig, and done the rest of what you said, it didnt make a difference, when you say turn off my firewall do you mean even when im downloading a file? because if u do ill try again.

Yes, turn it off completely, you are using PCTools correct?

Once we check these you will need to go back into msconfig>startup and enable the items you want.

You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling IE7 and just to double check, install FireFox and see if it happens with them also

ok i uninstalled pctools, then scanned with highjackthis, checked the line u said, and fix checked (deleted it) done the rest, rebooted, still doesnt work, i cant reinstall ie7 cus i dont think i have a cd for it >>

i also use threatfire by the way, want me to disable that?

Go to the control panel, add/remove programs, add/remove windows components. Then uncheck IE and let it uninstall.

Next open CCleaner and run it again and then run the registry cleaner of ccleaner.

Then go back to add/remove and and recheck IE and let it install again.

Now try to download something.

Did you try Firefox yet?
