ethernet output

my computer is a dell....2000 i think and it doesnt have a slot for an ethernet cord? someone told me that i can get something for this, they said i can plug it into some part of the cpu and it has a slot so you can put an ethernet cord into it.... can anyone tell me what this thing is called and how it works?

lol..its happens to me all the time

PCI Slot is Peripheral Component Interconnect which allows you to install expansion cards such as modems, sound cards and NIC's

Every dektop computer has a few of them, even Dells.

In all of the older models though, the PCI slots are used for the video, sound, etc...becuase there wasn't onboard then...
