I have an application which requires an ethernet card to be installed in order to create and use a locked licence. I have purchased a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast PCI Ethernet Card and installed it in XP Pro and it appears as working within Device Manager. However it is a stand alone PC and consequently there is no network cable plugged in which when I try to start up the application I receive a message stating "Ethernet card not detected" It appears with a host ID using "ipconfig /all" in a command window. Does the card need to be plugged into another pc in order for application to work, can I use some emulating software to simulate the card working.
