Hi,
Just purchased a new 30 metre ethernet cable to link my router with my computer.
It seems to work ok and get me the internet fine but speeds are incredibly low - I cant get under like 300 ping in steam games and download speeds are below 50kbps. I've got 6mb Bt Broadband.
The ethernet cable is :
Plexus Cat5e UTP Patch Cable (Grey) 30m - Ebuyer

Cheers for any help with this problem.

Possibly a bad cable or port. Cat5e is supposed to go up to 100 mps and can be 100 meters long. So... i don't understand with a 6 mb broadband why you are having issues. Try a different port into your router. Also test the speed of your internet. Google speak easy speedtest.

So... double check to ensure that it is your internet and maybe not the games host server, then try another port in your router (ensure no one else is gobbling up your bandwidth either), then replace the cable.

See if any of that solves your issue.

Sorry lol I feel like such an idiot - another person using my internet was dling so speeds were greatly reduced - you can close this thread mods.
