dns/ sub domains

im looking to set up a web site, and i want to use one of those free sub domains. how can i do that so i can have it point to my own dns so i can set up the zones ex. if i registered under .eu.edu. as example.eu.edu how could i create sub domains of that, and set up the A and MX files so i could have www.foo.example.eu.edu. and mail.something.example.edu. (im pretty new to dns, i just learned a little about bind 9, hope someone can help)

You should contact the host of this domain. They might be already giving you a child domain to work with. ex: name.example.yourname.eu.edu. If you are given the child domain the parent/grandparent domains are hidden from view.
You just need to talk to the host to see what they offer you. They might only give you that particular child.
