DLink DWL-2100AP In Client Mode

Hello, I Just bought this little gadget which i want to use to connect a pc without a wireless NIC (and no working pci or usb for one) to my wireless network.

I've done as their website instructed and all the information is set up right on the setup page.

the MAC is the same as the router that's sending out those signals from the modem (it's working... this laptop is wireless). the SSID is right, the network key is right (i'm using an ASCII 64-bit key, dunno if that's a problem. is hex necessary?)

but i don't have internet access. the LAN status on the PC is "connected", but no internet. any ideas?

After about an hour of messing with settings here's the solution:

The D-Link documentation mentions you need a static IP address to configure the gadget, but it doesn't mention that you need to set it back to "obtain ip address automaticly" in the connection settings to get the internet up and running.
