Desktop can't see laptops on workgroup

I have 5 computers total on my network. They all belong to the same workgroup. 4 are laptops and 1 is a desktop, all the laptops can see every computer when the IP is typed in the run window (\\192.168.1.68) for example, or if it's mapped. And all the laptops can see and access the desktop, but the desktop cannot connect and see any laptop on the network. Anyone know the problem? I have the desktop set up on a static IP right now. help!

check to see if the computer browser service is running. This service should maintain the list of computers in the workgroup.

open command line and run net view

open event veiwer and look for warnings and errors.
