My niece's computer is a Dell 8400. She has the factory installed wireless 1450 wlan dt adapter.

Her internet signal is very weak. Is there an antenna or something that would boost the signal. This computer does not have a router and I didn't think she would need one.

She gets a few choices of signals (some private) but the ones that are not locked have weak signals. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you!

The solution to your problem would be to get a wireless router, or an access point if you have a wired router.

When computers come with Wireless adaptors built in (WLAN), that is made to connect to a wireless point within YOUR network. This is NOT a way to access an ISP.

The weak signals that you are seeing are neighbors that are likely barely within range, who have wireless routers.

You will need to add wireless hardware to your network in order to get the computer online. We will not assist you in leeching a connection from a neighbor.

If you can give us further details of your network topology, we can assist you further.
