.bin are usually firmware upgrades. Most of the time you connect to the device then tftp the bin file to it. The device will then install the device power cycle and come back online (HOPEFULLY!)
How diffrent devices/manufactors do this is always a little diffrent. Linksys will just have you open the file then it will send. While I've seen Dlinks where you host the TFTP server with say solaris winds then tell the device whare to get it. Hope this helps.
