I want to buy a NAS server that serves to backup my computers. Automatically once a week. Is there a software that will allow me to do this? Also, when it backs up; how can I be sure it only copies what's changed and not every file so as not to make duplicates.

Look into Microsoft SyncToy. It's free, and does what you want (only copies changed files). You can set up scheduled tasks in Task Manager for it to run when you want. This is client side, however, and not server side.

Then you just need any kind of storage on the server (or whatever you want to back up to...could just be an external or internal HDD on another computer over the network).

So instead of using RAID 1. I could just have two 4TB HDs, one to put my movies and music files on and use the other HDD to back it up as well as my PCs. Would this work?
