Controlling remotely and graphics display

Hello. I'm stumped by the following issue:

If I were to use a netbook to control my desktop remotely, how would this work while running a graphically demanding game on the desktop? Would the graphics card in the netbook need to have the same performance capabilities as the one in the desktop to display properly? Would the netbook basically act like a second monitor as far as graphics are concerned? Other possibilities?

I would really appreciate any and all info.
Thanks,
Amontillado

You'd need to be connected to very good internet on both sides of the remote desktop, i.e. very good upload speed on the desktop end, very good download on the netbook end.

If you're planning on gaming, it's not going to turn out very well.
