Hello ,

I need help..

I have a network of 5 computers.
Internet connection is received on a motorola modem. This modem is directly connected to a netgear wireless router.
Here is the model below:

http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/GWirelessRouters/WGR614.aspx

From this netgear equipment everyone receives its connection via wireless.
Everything would start working fine but all of the sudden the connection would drop and the computers cannot browse the internet.
The modem has to be restarted as well as the netgear router in order for everything to work again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

When the connection drops, does it show if you wireless is still connected?

Can you ping the router when the internet drops? Open a command prompt (START > RUN > type 'CMD' ) then type 'IPCONFIG'.... the DEFAULT GATEWAY is the router's IP address. From any of the hosts, through the command prompt, type 'ping DEFAULT GATEWAY'... for example... might look like:
ping 192.168.1.1

If you CAN'T ping it, then try restarting ONLY the router and see if the connection restores.

If the Internet stop working and you can still ping the default gateway as ED explain, then perhaps your external IP changed and the router didn't update the WAN interface. Usually a release/renew on the router config page would fix this or a firmware update.

If you can't ping the default gateway, then you'll have to diagnose the router. Changing the channel/frequency seems to help with this sort of problem or updating the firmware if any.
