If you are using windows xp you can roll back the driver in the control panel go to system then click the hardware tab. Find the hardware. Then right click and choose properties. Click the driver tab then click roll back driver. Also your lost connection could be due to an expired lease. Usually leases last about a day.
 
it does not show up in there. I mean its a firmware upgrade to the router not on the computer unless i am mistaken.
 
If you don't mind losing your password and any settings you may have on your router you can reset it back to factory specs. Reset button is usuall located on the back of the router can sometimes be found on the front or underneath. Occasionally the reset is located inside the router means you would have to take it apart. If it is located inside you can find it simply by reading the writing on the board look for "reset". If it is on the outside you'll have to use a small piece of something sometimes a pen works could aslo use a toothpick.
 
You might also want to make your connections more private using wep(Wired Equivalent Protection)Run a search on an engine to find it.
