I need to connect a PDA to the serial port of a WYSE terminal. I was told by WYSE that I will need to install the software on the TS, and then I will need to configure serial port forwarding. I'm not sure exactly how to do that. Is it a function of the net use command?

Any ideas on how to set this up? Oh, and the USB ports on the WYSE terminal do not support the PDA, so USB is out of the question. I have to set it up through the serial connection.

Thanks,
David

It is possible to foreward serial ports under and NT and Linux, the are many
products available some of which use a standard protocol called CAPI, on a
windows machine you oftern need to replace the comm driver (it's not
difficult, honest). I'm not a big unix person so I'm not sure whats involved
there.

For Windows try looking for a product called Stomper ... it's low caost (but
not as cheap as VNC) and works well ... If you do a quick search on
AltaVista for "Stomper and Modem Sharing" you should find it .... assuming
you have CAPI driver/client for Unix you should be OK.

from http://www.qwksilver.com/stompold.html <- d/l shareware stomper here

On required work stations you run the Stomper Fossil program which redirects your selected COM port through the network to a modem server.

Thanks for the response.

Doesn't Windows provide this functionality? I have looked at the terminal server configuration settings, and I don't see anything, but I would think it would be something simple, even if it is from the command prompt.

Anyway, I'll keep this idea in mind, but if anyone can come up with something different, let me know.
