Hi!

something curious,

I am connecting my inspiron 9200 to a pc with a patch cable (not a crossover cable) and it's working perfectly, I can share files, copy, paste, explore, etc.

How is this possible, if I am not using a crossover cable? It is not absolutely necessary use a crossover cable to connect pc to pc?

inspiron = windows xp professional, broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller
pc= windows 2000 professional, PCI 3Com EtherLink XL 10/100

some comments? :rolleyes:

interesting. I wouldnt think that would work. You sure its not a cross? maybe one of the cards has flip over cross abilty (woah, yes I did just make up that term because I cant remember what its really called.)

i'm sure the cable is not crossover.....it's a belkin patch cable...i made a crossover cable and a patch cable, tested both and work fine too...maybe is the card , someone told me this: "many newer onboard NIC's are autosensing. Similar to the ports on contemporary switches"

thanks for your comment
