Hi chaps (again!)
Can anyone answer this, I have set up a home LAN with 2 notebooks and a pc all connecting thru a wireless Belkin pre-n router. In the router utility program, there is a LAN>DHCP client list. Even though all 3 are connected to the router with no problems, one of the notebooks is missing from the list. All of them run winxp home edition SP2, except the missing one which runs win98 SE. Is there a reason for this?

depends. some processes on that machine may require a static address. if this is the case you'll need to make sure the address you assign to it is excluded from the dhcp pool of addresses.

Otherwise, i'd let dhcp assign the address for easy & reliable configuration
