Okay, now I clicked on "Connect to this Printer (or to browse etc etc). I put in the IP address\HP and it appeared to work except now it says the server doesn't have the correct printer driver installed. Well, it has the driver for Windows 98. Do I also need to install the driver for XP on the Desktop or Notebook?

yes, the best thing to do at the point when it asks you for the driver is to download the correct driver for the operating system that you are installing it on. you will be able to find the correct driver on hp's website.
