Computers Disappear On Network

We have a small office network for our Church, but whenever I use my laptop I never know which computers are going to show up (note: the computers are turned on). There are three towers and three laptops (including mine) and they sometimes show up on the network, but then not at other times. I haven't been able to figure out why.

The towers are running XP, one Mac Book, and two acer aspires, one 32bit the other 64bit Windows 7.

Also the Mac's sharing folders are accessible from my Acre (64 bit win7) but the Mac cannot connect with mine (file sharing is on). If anyone happens to know why, that'd be nice to know too.

Thats the crap part of multi os and generation of systems... Have you tried to ping them? What type of firewalls on?

If I know the puters there, and i want on its shares, I do it manually... \\compter\ in the explorer bar of windows explorer.
