Hi, I have a weird problem... my comp lags whenever I'm connected onto the internet. I use XP Home edition. What are the possible causes? I had my comp just formatted so I don't think it can be a spyware or virus problem. Please help!

Do you have a firewall? If you dont, you are probably infected by all sorts of worms, etc, and that will slow you down a bunch. Also, just because your comp has just been formatted, doesnt make you any less prone to getting viruses/spyware, so make sure your virus/spyware scanner is up to date.

Right. As soon as you connect to the internet, you are at risk of getting spyware. Before you connect to the internet, be sure to have anti virus installed as well as some sort of spyware blocker/remover.

Currently, you should disconnect your computer from the internet (Either by removing the cable physically, or disabling your nic) and just scan the hell out of it with a virus scanner and adaware. Just run it until it picks up nothing mroe.
