companiion sites

I was wondering what the process was of adding say amazon to my site, and if some one purchased stuff from amazon after seeing the add on mjy page, i would get a cut.

is that what is called the companiion site. it would work a treat if i and my friends were to buy stuff from amazon, like gps receivers and stuff
