Hello

igeuss the response to an ATD is an ATA, correct?

what is the response to the ATA command?

ATA must be the last command entered into the command
line. The modem proceeds with the connect sequence in answer mode.
The modem will enter the connect state after exchanging carrier
with the remote modem. If no carrier is detected within the wait period specified the modem will disconnect.

Is that what you're looking for?

thanks for the reply, this is what i am looking for. can you point me to some basic references which illustrate the connect sequence

i guess there is a script file which handles the issual of AT commands

i guess the ATA command is received by the dialing MODEM which proceeds with the connect sequence.
is exchanging carrier the transmission of a carrier frequency ? is this the first step in the connect sequence?

i guess the wait period is the time out period ?
