Hello. We have 9x Cisco 1200 AP's that we use in our business. The settings haven't been modified since the network was set up back in 2003, so we wanted to make sure everything is set so we get maximum potential. We first realized that all of the AP's wireless channels were set to 'Least Congested Frequency' which meant that it was auto picking a channel. Do you think its good to leave it on this option? We had went around and changed the AP's channels to 1, 6 or 11 and making sure they were far enough apart from each other so they didn't interfere. We noticed that on some of the AP's, our laptop would stay connected to an AP that was further away then the AP we were near... and it wasn't connecting to the closest AP. Is there any options that allow us to set it up in roaming mode which allows your device to connect to the nearest AP? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

i would use some wifi scanner softwares to determine the best config.

as for connecting to the closest AP, that seems to be a function of the nic in the laptop. The maker may have addon software for the nic to connect to the closest ap. This would be very rare though. I've personally never seen it. Also, the connection would prolly cut out momentarily during the switch.
