Chromecast Wifi/wired

I was wondering if it would be possible to keep my wired connection and use wifi for chromecast on the same pc. I did some searching and did not find anything that could help me.

My setup right now is Cable modem to hub to pc, hub to router.
Windows 8.1

Yes, as long as it's on the same network you should be able to use your computer wired and cast to the Chromecast via wifi.

The initial configuration has to be done over wifi though, by connecting to the device when it broadcasts itself so you can configure it to your wifi with a computer or smartphone.
