S skibereen Solid State Member Messages 12 Oct 6, 2005 #2 firewire would be fastest. But you would either need to get the computers less than 15 feet apart, or you would need a Repeater. A single repeater would cover 50ft easily.

P PhillipBelcher In Runtime Messages 191 Oct 6, 2005 #5 Chris, firewire has a faster transfer rate. If you where to go giga you would use Cat6 to get optimal speed

T turnstile Baseband Member Messages 59 Oct 6, 2005 #6 just use the orthodox Cat5 or Cat5E method. With each machine having an NIC card.. *come on guys.. they're cheap enough* and then Cat5x cable running between them

S skibereen Solid State Member Messages 12 Oct 7, 2005 #7 Ive got 2 machines. about 100 ft apart. Neither have gigbit cards. both have firewire ports. Ive spend 30GBP. I havent had to open up either machine to update NIC cards. Ive got 400Mbps transfer rate. Nuff said. total job time, less than 10 minutes.
