Can't figure out sharing issue.

Added a second desktop in my network, XP by wireless network, and can't seem to share its forlders... Oddly, it use to be in the network, AND wsa shared fine.


The error msg I get is the not authorized error.

I can see the computer, and that computer csan access my other shared folders.

What am I missing?

Is the computer you are trying to connect to a Vista computer? If so ensure that file sharing is on and that password protected sharing is off.

No, the problem comp is xp home, desktop 2 is xp pro, and the 1 laptop is vista

First, disable simple file sharing. It's in My Computer>Tools>Folder Options>View. Uncheck the 'Use Simple File Sharing' box.

Then go to whatever folder you're trying to share, right click and select 'security'

Go to the 'Advanced' tab, and click on the user you're trying to give access to. Make sure they have full control. Heck, if it's your home network, you can just set user 'Everyone' to have full control.

Seems Home doesn't have that ability
