and sorry, what?! did you ADD google to your host file? I believe you're meant to delete it. In fact, I'm very sure.
If your dns isn't resolving correctly, two things come to mind.

1. do a tracert on www .google. com , see if you can see where it hangs (if it manages anything at all)
2. check the settings on your router. If the flushdns and netstart netstop commands aren't doing anything for you on the pc, it's possible your router is the source of the problem.

So do i need to ADD or REMOVE google from my host file. So far I have

127.0.01 localhost
209.85.135.104 google.com
::1 localhost

---------------
all is set to obtain IP and DNS automaticaly

yes the router is fine, since I am running 2 other PC's off it wired and wifi

I have Google Chrome, Firefox, EI as browsers on all computers

and still no other programs running

Had this same issue on a friends computer a while back. Came back TWICE....

First time, the DNS was set to OBTAIN AUTOMATICALLY. For SOME REASON, it was LISTING the DNS correctly as the router, but it just wasn't working. Toggling it list the router's IP STATICALLY solved the problem the first time. That was fine for a few months, then the SAME thing happened. I set it back to OBTAIN AUTOMATICALLY, and it came back fine.

I suggest that you do the same. Set the DNS address to 192.168.1.1 in both fields, and see if that has any effect on the problem. If it does, then set it back to OBTAIN AUTOMATICALLY, and try again. Report findings back here.

Giving what you are seeing, trouble appears to be MOST DEF. DNS related.

Use this guide to get to the DNS setting page if you aren't sure how to. DO NOT change the IP address config, since that is working fine....

Got to the TPC/IP properties but I can not have the same IP in both fields, like you have mentioned. Having 192.168.1.1 in both fields gives me an error. Am I missing something?

I didn't change the IP but kept it automatic like you said

Changed the DNS to 192.168.1.1 and on a reboot, but was not able to place that IP in BOTH fields

Is there something else I needed to follow on the site you posted or was it just mentioned in directions to get to the DNS setup? thanks so much....getting closer and closer to one less headache
