Hi I'm using win2k and I have a little problem. My computer doesn't connect the Internet constantly. But the other computer with xp doesn't have this problem. Even it does, it can be repaired by right-clicking local Area Conncection, in Network and Dial-up connections, Control Pannel. But I can't find "repair" in win2k system. Does win2k have this capacity?

At the command prompt, type ipconfig /release then hit enter. Then type ipconfig /renew. Does the same as the repair option in XP.

I did it but it didn't seem to work. Here's the message for both commands I received: No adapters bound to TCP/IP are enabled for DHCP.

Click start, then run, type services.msc and hit ok. Look for the dhcp client and dns client, make sure it says running for both. If they are, double check your tcp/ip protocols and make sure it's all automatic for ip and dns settings. If all that looks good then try uninstalling & re-installing the NIC on your pc.

(If you are still having this problem) : Good Advice Angel.

Make sure you don't have 2 nics... (1 card 1 onboard) enabled.
Make sure you check the device manager for any error icons.
Try to update the driver through the device manager.

Maybe that's because there's a VMware on my computer and it contains virtual networks! I think I know what the problem is.

Thanks for your help.

p.s. Can you recommend me some links about how to use command prompt and/or register?

Star -> Run -> cmd ->ok (command prompt)
ipconfig - shows your ip's and gateway etc.
ipconfig /all - shows everything.
ipconfig /release - release's ip address
ipconfig /renew - get new ip address
ipconfig /flushdns - clears dns from system

those are the basics used for internet troubleshooting, but for more commands and info. visit http://www.computerhope.com/msdos.htm just be carfull what you play with.

Thanks for your help. I went to that site but didn't find detailed instructions on register and run command...

Good sources of registry information:
http://www.winguides.com/article.php?id=1&guide=registry
http://www.akadia.com/services/windows_registry_tutorial.html
http://www.pcsupportadvisor.com/windows_registry_tutorial_page1.htm

Of course, there are tons of sites out there for registry twekas, tips, mod's etc.
http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=windows+registry&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

The run option gives you access to programs already on the pc. If you want more information on specific commands from the command prompt, try here :
http://www.computerhope.com/msdos.htm

Otherwise, run itself doesn't do a whole lot.
