Most likely a Firewall.
What game are you playing?
Search google and find out what ports that particular game uses for a private seesion.
Once you find out, edit all of your software firewalls so they allow connections from that port.
If this doesn't work try to directly connect to the internet. (Take out your router and connect directly to the modem.)
