I have laptop with a built-in wireless. I have a desktop that doesn't have a wireless. My laptop has a Ethernet port in the back. I was wondering if there's a way I can use my laptop as a wireless sort of communicator between the desktop and my router in the living room.

I have crossover cables and Ethernet cables if needed.

yeah ive tried that one. its a bit of a funny business really. the method i got to work vaguely was to connect the laptop to the dekstop with a crossover, and to connect the laptop to the wireless (wirelessly, of course). then go into network manager or whatever on your laptop and view the properties for the wireless connection. if your Lucky youll find a little box to tick which says 'share connection'. tick it.

then, because u now have a laptop connected to two networks (your router and your desktop), bridge the two connections. then, on the desktop, connect to the laptop ethernet.

HOPEFULLY itll work but im only speculating ive tried this myself with minimal success. give it a shot, whats the worst that could happen?
