I recently built my new system and am using the same satellite modem that was on my old system but am having problems I did not have before.
When trying to view multiple pages and download multiple pics I get "The page cannot be displayed" error message after a few pages.
I tried TCP Optimizer, TuneUp Utilities 2006 and Cablenuts all with no improvements.
I added a proxy setting to my connection and it solved the problem.
However, I did not need it on my old system (Windows ME)
and now on my XP Pro I do. And, I have tested my download speeds on my old system w/ proxy and they were always faster w/out the proxy. So I want to be rid of it.
SO,
My question then is; What is requiring me to use a proxy in XP to browse efficiently? And what can I do to be rid of it?
I posted in the Broadband forums but think it is a Windows XP thing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
