I just researched price SBC charges by google-ing it. I clicked on the tab "prices and packages when I got there. We pay around 25-26 dollars. SO I looked at the package closest to that. It says we should get up to 3.0 Mbps. Is that Megabits per second?

Or is it Megabytes? If it's megabytes then somethin is still wrong because you all were right. I get 40 KB/s downloads. I don't anywhere near 3 megabytes.

Hopefully I'll have more computer terms straight after this crap.

That would be 3 megabit per second. Lowercase b typically stands for bit, uppercase B typically stands for byte.

ok then it all makes sense now. Thx.

I don't know why the hell they HAVE to be a pain in the ass and use bits. Why can't they just say, "You get 40 kilobyte downloads!". THey are so ignorant.

It's marketing.

40 kilobyte doesn't sound near as good as 3 megabit. Almost the exact same speed, but megabit sounds better.

Also, most people who get broadband never seem to notice the difference. They notice that it's faster than their dial up was, and that's all that they care about.
