Any need for Zone Alarm?

I have a XTERASYS 4-Port DSL/Cable Broadband Router, Model XR-1105+ connecting 2 computers to my DSL connection. On newegg it says that my router has natural firewall so is there any need to run zone alarm on both computers?

Nope, not really. It does add an extra layer of security but not worth it in my opinion.

I agree with jinexile. If you have a firewall on the router, then save some performance on the computers by not running software firewalls on them.

And I've gotten a virus thru a router...don't chance it or I'll see you on the HiJack Log (Analyze) forum and I really do NOT want you visiting there. Liz

Always combine layers of security. One can always let you down, therefor, you got a backup. Zone Alarm is very good.

i recomend sygate very good firewall, and there is still a free version out for personal use.

i have firewall in my router, but my computer ports still get scanned every couple of days
