i have a certain program on a computer (host) at one desk and another computer (guest) without that program at another desk.

how can i connect both computers in a way that will allow the guest computer to use the program on the host computer without actually having to install it on the guest computer?

i have to do this through a parallel connection. i've tried the wizards crap on xp and i still can't get it. can someone help please???

both xp? remote desktop connection, start | programs | accessories | communications | remote desktop connection

this will allow the guest to control the host's pc

That won't work. The host is a stand alone machine and the guest machine is on a corporate network. I'm trying to go through the LPT1.

So the computers are on separate networks? What about a VPN? I think it depends on the program, but a VPN might work.

i couldn't get that to work. after reading some stuff this is what i've tried:

On the host computer:
network connections -> create a new connection -> set up advanced connection -> connect directly to another computer -> host -> device: direct parallel (LPT1)

On the guest computer
eveyrthing the same except i choose guest instead of host

then when i try to establish the connection, the guest cant' find the host.
