If it came with GUI preinstalled, then it would load automatically like windows. Unless your run level is set to something else, but even then startx would start KDE or GNOME.

T TheRecluse In Runtime Messages 477 Sep 2, 2005 #8 make sure you have everything corect in your xorg.conf... is it giving you a no screen found error something along those lines when you startx?
