alright i just about had it. i installed ubuntu. I logged in and now i am stuck. how to i get to gui. i typed startx but it did not work. then i read that i needed to do xorgsetup and xorgconfig but they did now work either what must i do

so how do you install one

when i type in startx at ben@ben:~$
i get -bash: startx: command not found

I have no idea, If I were you I would download Mandrake 10.1. Comes with the GUI preinstalled :p

well what do i type in to configure it or start it if i dont have to config it

If it came with GUI preinstalled, then it would load automatically like windows.

Unless your run level is set to something else, but even then startx would start KDE or GNOME.

make sure you have everything corect in your xorg.conf...

is it giving you a no screen found error something along those lines when you startx?
