Default Windows And Linux installation in a single system

Laptop is in a Windows OS.
Need to install Linux OS too.

Please explain the steps.

Whichever one you're most comfortable in.

If you've never used a Linux distribution before - start with Mint or Ubuntu. They'll have some of the most "consumer" or regular user support.
