WIn7 and linux partitioning dual boot?

Hard Drives are pretty cheap these days. Can you not just get another HDD and do a separate installation.

Have them booting as SATA 1 and SATA 2 Ect:

This way it will dedicate full terminal resources of the system too each HDD OS Installation and avoid any overlapping config problems such as Windows Partition seeing Linux Partition and Linux Partition seeing Windows Partition.

When it comes too the file system you could have problems with a duel boot.
 
If you're using Ubuntu the installer handles everything for you. Just did this a few days ago with 18.04 actually
