WIFI card killed X windows!

Hi, I just got Mandrake 10 working on an dual boot laptop (with XP) and less than 24 hours it's broken again!

Everything was fine until I put a PCMCIA WIFI card in - I rebooted (to pick up the new hardware) - went through the wifi network config - started X and got the following error:

I checked the date on my XF86Config file and it hasn't changed. Now I'm stumped.

try unplugging wifi card then reboting, then insert card after x is working again and try to configure it.The current kernel supports hotplugging.You may have an IRQ conflict, or that wifi card isnt supported under linux
 
The card is unplugged but same problem. The card was correctly picked up (Linux knew it's make and model).

How can I chk the IRQ settings with command line?

hmm. second question, this thing has an nvidia card, did you by chance install the nvidia drivers?If so, did you go back and edit the xf86config file and make the changes nvidia wants? Thats a necessary step after an nvidia driver install.

You might try reconfiguring the xf86config with something generic and see what happens.Im guessing the xf86 config is messed up and has nothing to do with the wifi card OR the nvidia driver wont work with that wifi card........somethings definitley not right.

Im not a mnadrake user so Im not familiar with how their GUI sets things up with system changes.
 
my pc is broken in a different way after I got a wi-fi card not listed by windows - my screen broke its cost of repairing is the same as the price of pc {:-$)
