What do you think i should use for this labtop?

I got a Compaq Armada 7380DMT, it has a p1 266Ghz,12Gb or 4Gb hdd,64 ram, i dont know about the vga card lol. i tried Ubuntu but it crashed. So i dont know what you guys think....

There's one huge jump from 12GB to 4GB there...

I suggest something customizable, like Slackware or Debian, that doesn't automatically come with KDE or GNOME, and has a light text installer. Fluxbox or FVWM should run comfortably on that. You could try DSL, because I know for certain it will run on 32MB of RAM, but it is a bit skimpy.

True i tried live cds they mess up. I dont want to install them yet i mean if a Live Cd messes up what are the chances that the install will work right?

If so I'd reccomend this, it comes as a live CD but it has an option to install it to your HDD

ok well i found out its a 12GB hdd so know im jsut going to install something lol, but i cant deside which Distro would work for this and not lag.
