Video problems on beryl

Hey i just installed beryl but when i have a video playing on totem, and i drag it around the vid doesnt stay in the frame until i stop draging and when i goto the cube spin the vid goes black and when the window goes out of focus it goes black also and if there is more that three window on a workspace it goes blank, is it a problem with the vid player or my configuration

I am using Ubuntu 6.06 LTS beryl 0.1.1

Im sticking with 6.06 because i want it to be stable, also 6.1 doesnt have support for 1280x1024 resolution and it doesnt come with ndiswrapper which i need to access the internet.

when a release of ubuntu has those fetures, then i will change. Until then, is there a way to correct this.

6.10 will do whatever resolution you want. I think maybe you should gain some expertise in configuring X before you mess with Beryl/XGL/etc.

Ndiswrapper can be installed (apt-get install ndiswrapper), it doesn't have to be packaged with the distro. The reason it probably doesn't come pre-installed is because 6.10 is packaged with a newer kernel which has support for more wireless cards.

Sticking with old software doesn't mean sticking with stable software, it means having to deal with compatibility problems with new stuff (like Beryl). Either way, all versions of Ubuntu are equally unstable so it really won't make a difference.

Is there a way to correct it? Couldn't tell you. Probably because you're using an older version of Xorg than what Beryl is written to work with. Possibly because you haven't configured X properly, or because you haven't installed the right video drivers (what kind of video card do you have?) Probably because you are missing some libs that Beryl needs. I don't know.

apt-get requires an internet connection (unless your trying to say its an option on the disk) which i dont have without ndiswrapper, ubuntu doesnt have support for my card, i already have a partition with 6.10 in order to test it.

But i will keep an open mind, btw how do you add more resolution options, i've found other threads about editing the config and putting the resolutions there but when i go to change them they dont show up, this is in 6.10

Dapper seems to have drivers that work well with my ATI X300 card, i dont know if edgy has the same drivers

Did you say that Beryl was working at all? Because that's impossible. XGL/AIGLX will not run on those drivers because they don't support 3D hardware acceleration. You need to install the FGLRX drivers for it to work.
