the only thing keeping me from running linux 100% is the ability to play video games.

the only games i play are Diablo2:LOD and Counterstrike

would i be able to play these through Wine or anything like that?

I think you can play counterstrike, google for linux counterstrike, Ive been to a site that explains how to do it,dont remember what it is, and ive never tried it

Linux is not a gaming system. Although certain games do support Linux they can be hard to come by. I use a dual boot system. I use Windows when I want to play Games. and Linux when I want to do everything else.

linux is a very good platform for gamers. There are actually disks that are distributed that have many open source versions of many popular games. But like TheRecluse said, you could use wine. There are versions of wine that cost money. But there are some that are free. Try looking into it. I have been stable on linux for about 4 years now, and my gaming levels haven't decreased since I dropped windows.
