they are still selling licenses and hold the original license to unix, the versions they sell run on mainframes-------it isnt for the desktop

unix doesnt make use of the gpl toolset that linux does, but the results are the same, posix compliance

Not quite, unix specifications and the name 'Unix' are owned by the open group, sco own the original code and a license to call it unix. Any os that meets the open group spec can purchase a license and call it unix, most, like the bsd's, don't bother as its just a name.
